Where are suspended ceilings used in warehouses?
Mezzanine offices
The most common warehouse ceiling job we do. Offices built above floor level need a ceiling to close off the underside of the roof deck, carry the lighting and give the space a finished office feel. Grid and tile is the standard choice, with fire-rated construction where building control calls for it.
Welfare, canteens and toilets
Staff canteens, washrooms, first aid rooms and rest areas need a finished, cleanable ceiling. We specify humidity-resistant tiles as standard here, because ordinary mineral tiles sag and stain in a room that sees steam and no consistent heat.
Ground floor offices and meeting rooms
Partitioned offices inside the warehouse footprint. A suspended ceiling gives you an insulated, acoustically separated room instead of a partitioned box open to the warehouse roof, and hides the services running above it.
Trade counters and reception
The one part of an industrial unit your customers actually see. A clean grid ceiling with recessed lighting is the cheapest way to make a trade counter or visitor reception look like a business rather than a storeroom.
Plant, comms and server rooms

Which ceiling systems suit an industrial building?
Standard grid and tile

Humidity-resistant tile
For canteens, kitchens, washrooms and any unheated or poorly insulated area. A small uplift per m2 that stops the ceiling sagging and staining within a couple of winters. This is the single most common specification mistake we get called back to fix.
Acoustic tile
For offices and meeting rooms sitting next to or above a working warehouse floor. Noise-control tiles in the same grid, so it costs more per tile but nothing extra in labour. More on this system.

Working in a live warehouse
Almost every industrial unit we work in is still trading while we are in it. Pallets keep moving, deliveries keep arriving, and the ceiling job has to fit around that rather than the other way round. Before we start we agree the access route, the exclusion zone and the forklift routes with your facilities or site manager, and we confirm who needs telling what on the day.
We then work in sections, so only one area is out of use at any point and the rest of the unit carries on. Each area is sheeted before we start and cleaned down as we finish it, which matters more in a warehouse than an office because dust settles on stock. Where the operation genuinely cannot stop, we work evenings or weekends, and we price that openly in the quote rather than burying it in the rate.
We work to site inductions and RAMS as standard, and we are as used to reporting to a main contractor as we are to dealing direct with an estates or facilities team.

We specify humidity-resistant board in those conditions and check the roof above for leaks before we fit, because a ceiling installed under an active leak will stain within weeks.
- How long does a warehouse office ceiling take to install?
- A single mezzanine office or welfare block up to 100m2 is normally one to two days. A full welfare, office and trade counter package across an industrial unit is typically three to five days. Larger or phased jobs are programmed individually and the programme is confirmed in writing with the quote.
- Do you replace stained or damaged tiles in an existing warehouse ceiling?
